Building Hope, One Cabin at a Time

In a heartwarming display of community spirit and dedication, the Providence Global Methodist Church of Forest City has recently completed the construction of four fully equipped cabins designed to serve as temporary shelters for those in need. These cabins are now ready to provide comfort and security to those in need, featuring essential amenities such as electricity, a compost toilet, a full bed, a folding table, two folding chairs, eating supplies, groceries, bedding, pillows, and curtains. Adding a special touch of warmth and care, the cabins have been adorned with queen-sized handmade quilts generously provided by the Slap Happy Quilters at Phillips Chapel Church. These beautifully crafted quilts not only offer comfort but also symbolize the love and support of the community.

All of this work is to support Hurricane Helene efforts. The Providence Global Methodist Church has also made provisions for work teams who assist in various projects. The church’s balcony has been outfitted with approximately 20 cots, ensuring that volunteers have a place to sleep, eat, and shower during their stay. The construction of these cabins was made possible through the generosity of a community member who donated space in a neighboring building specifically for this purpose. This collaborative effort highlights the power of community and the impact of collective action in addressing local needs.

Providence Global Methodist Church continues to partner with community churches like Phillips Chapel to enhance their outreach efforts and support those affected by Hurricane Helene. This partnership of community is a beacon of hope and support, demonstrating that through unity and compassion, we can all build a brighter future through God.
